Which story did you like best? Why?
I liked the story about Phillis Wheatley because she proved those around her that pushed her down wrong. She not only used to be a slave, but hard worker. Phillis became the first black poet in America. And they were beautiful poems, too. I love poetry and the fact that she did not care what other people thought of her, is what I have to remember.

Which story did you like least? Why?
Well they were all such good books that I really don't have a least favorite. They all helped me learn something and I really can't choose.

Who can you relate to the most? Why?
How I feel I can relate to the most is Phillis Wheatley, which is also why she's my most favorite out of the book. She did what wanted to become out of life. A poet. All the haters would judge her for how she was a black GIRL poet. Mostly the men would do all the writing, traveling, voting, that women would mostly not be allowed to do. Phillis didn't care. She wanted to do what she wanted to become out of life. A poet. That's what I'm doing. I'm working and following what I want to become out of life. And I'm working hard. Haters brought me down before, but I had people out there who loved and supported for what I did. And Phillis had that, too. She had her family to support her. It didn't matter what other thought, it matters what YOU think. Haters gonna hate. I always remind myself of that.

I think this book really spoke out to me in a way. It taught me to never give up on what you believe in. And to see their outcomes and how they succeeded changed my perspective on things that I like to do. It made me want to keep fulfilling me dream of graduating college and becoming a professional basketball player and now I'm going to stick to it. The book gave me courage that really helped. And I liked how they started from the growing up I'm still trying to make my way up and I know their is going to be challenges, just like they did I have to keep trying to succeed.
I liked Philis Wheatley's story, because she went from nothing into something. I liked how she was treated for a slave, because not that many slaves were treated nicely, but she was and she took advantage of that. TO BE CONTINUED........

I personally really enjoyed the book. It was my favorite in class reading so far.
My Favorite Story: Into Med School by Student Vote (Elizabeth Blackwell) pg. 64
Why: Because I want to become a doctor so it was very interesting to me.
My least Favorite Story: On Trial for Thinking for Herself
Why: I didn't really find this chapter quite interesting.
Relating to: Again probably Into Med School by Student Vote because I really want to become a doctor.

Continued...
I liked how she made history by becoming the first female poet. That's what I want to do, I want to actually be someone to make history. My least favorite story was Abigail Adams not that there is anything wrong with her, but to me she didn't do much and I was kind of bored reading it. I thought she would do more and it be more interesting. I think it need more from her and it should have a little more detail with her thoughts. I believe it could have been more detailed and more interesting. that is my reason for not liking Abigail Adams. I can relate to Philis Wheatley because, she kept trying and I don't like to quit. And she kept trying at something and that's kind of what I do I always want to keep trying at something. I like how she started from the ground up and that's what I hope I do, start from the ground and work my way up to the top. And I think I'm as brave as her, because when I do something I love I don't listen to the haters and try to thrive in it. this is why I like Philis Wheatley.
