Phillis Wheatly
she was an African American girl who was kidnapped and sold into slavery at a young age. But she wasn't treated badly Mr. and Mrs. Wheatly treated her like their own child they taught her how to read and wright. Soon she was writing poems they were very well written (pg.37). She wrote a lot even to George Washington in return he wrote back (pg. 39). That was great for her but her life seemed to get sadder. Mr. and Mrs. Wheatly had died and she had to battle a lot of emotions. But made history and was the first black poet in America. She had went and married a man who did not treat her good. She then got sick and died still very young, but even though she died her poems still lived on.
