Setting: San Francisco pg. 118; Iowa pg. 120; Europe pg. 122
Plot: Carrie was a person who wanted to fight for the freedom of other women, so that women could do things men can do. She used to lecture about it a lot. When she graduated and got married, she went to San Francisco with her husband, Leo Chapman. Suddenly, on the way, Leo grew very ill and died. After that, Carrie felt like her life had no meaning anymore. She a job as a secretary, to fill up her time. Carrie then went back to her hometown, Iowa, and joined the organization Elizabeth Stanton and her friends settled up. Carrie began her lectures again to make the men understand that women wanted to do things they were allowed to do. She married again to George Catt, who approved of her work. She joined societies in Europe. After the U.S. declared war, Carrie encouraged the women of America to help the war effort. They worked as nurses. A year after the bill was passed in Congress, the Constitution was amended so that a person's sex had nothing to do with the right to vote.

Carrie Chapman Catt- wanted to be independent
Setting: San Francisco(pg.118), Iowa(pg.120), and Europe(pg.122)
Plot: She wanted for women to be free and independent . She joined Elizabeth Stanton's organization. she gave a lot of lectures and encouraged women to put effort into the war. And she helped women become finally independent.
Conflict: Between her and society. She had to deal with the doubters and haters, but kept pushing and the result is women becoming independent.
